How To Have Better Conversations

Can we have better conversations? Of course, we can.

First of all, study your audience. Ask yourself who they are and what triggers their reaction both positively or negatively. For example, if they are mainly concerned about profit, the chance is they would warm up easier to propositions coming from somebody more factual in their way of reasoning.

Then ask yourself what you want to achieve with that specific conversation. Is your goal to get a raise? Maybe you just want to be more visible. Make sure you have clarity about it. It will help to stay on track. Now it's time to work on the strategy. Choose words that clearly and effectively convey your thoughts. Consider the setting, and above all, keep your emotions in check

Now t's time to rehearse. Present to people you trust so you can get objective feedback. Make any change if necessary. \Now you are ready to go.
